Expectations high as five starters return for Bobcats

Pre-season ranking has Burning Springs as 4th best county wide

The Burning Springs Bobcats return all five starters from last season. This year the team is a little bigger, stronger and much quicker. Coach Alan Bradshaw will utilize his team speed and go with a three-guard offense. Josh Messer, Kenny Wolfe and John Wilson can each handle the ball against pressure and also take the ball to the basket if the defender gets too close.

Jarrod Hooker and Robert Gay are the teams inside threat. Both will have to contend with much taller players and will have to use their quickness to offset any size disadvantage. Coty Abner and Jon-Ross Barrett should get plenty of playing time off the bench.

The Bobcats are getting some high marks from various coaches. In a pre-season coaches poll conducted early on, the Cats are rated as the county's fourth best team. "We gained a lot of experience last year," said Bradshaw. "We are probably going to be the smallest team again this season but we also might be the quickest. What the kids lack in size they will make up with heart," he added.
