Final preseason scrimmage at Hazard

Clay County 42, Powell County 35

The Lady Tigers played their final preseason scrimmage at Hazard Saturday, downing Powell County 42-35. Sophomore point guard Jayme "Skooly" Gilbert led the way with 15 points. Amanda House and Maleah Roberts scored seven each. Kelly Jones added 6, Kari Ealy had 3 and Gemma Gray and Monica Bowling scored 2 each.

Gray gets started with young squad

Donnie Gray (432-121) prepares to do battle in his 19th season as CCHS Lady Tiger Head Coach with a very young squad that features only one senior.

And according to the Herald-Leader, the Lady Tigers enter 2003-04 as the fourth best team in the 13th Region, right behind Jackson County, Rockcastle County and Cawood.

By the way, both Jackson County and Rockcastle County are ranked among the state's best teams at Number 4 and Number 7 respectively.
